Over the past few months the markets have been abuzz with various leaks and hints towards Nokia’s return to the smartphone markets. With the CES 2017 having come and gone, Nokia did not make any major announcements. However, after the CES ended, Nokia announced their return to the smartphone markets with the Nokia 6 smartphone. The phone will feature the Nokia brand name, but will be manufactured by HMD Global.

After Nokia was taken over by Microsoft, HMD Global signed a ten year deal which allows them to use the Nokia brand in their smartphones and tablets. They intend to spend over $500 million in the next few years on developing the smartphones. The Nokia 6 is indeed quite a start. The phone is quite impressive and has been announced just a few hours ago.

The Nokia 6 features a 5.5 inched HD Display. It runs on a Snapdragon 430 processor, and will be powered by a 3000mAh battery which ensures that the large screen gets enough power to run it for long hours. The phone releases with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space, which can be expanded with the help of a MicroSD card.

The phone would run on the Android 7.0 Nougat OS, and features a metallic body. It also comes with a fingerprint scanner, and features a 16MP primary camera, along with an 8MP front camera. While no pricing details about the Nokia 6 have been released at the moment, it has been stated that the phone would be releasing only for China as of now.

We also expect Nokia and HMD Global to announce more smartphones at the Mobile World Congress next month, and to show off this phone to a global audience. It looks like they are testing out their products in China for now, before releasing it for a bigger audience around the globe.
