8th Gen Intel Core Processors Launched: 40% Improvement over 7th Gen

Intel has been the mainstay of PC computing for years now. The company has been introducing processor after processor and has been bringing forward a large number of updates over the years. The latest such update comes in the form of 8th Gen Intel Core processors which launched today. Let us take a closer look at what these gen-next processors from Intel bring to the table:

As per Intel, these 8th gen Intel core processors have been created keeping in mind the needs of the modern day devices. The way technology has been advancing, Intel has created these processors keeping in mind the needs of the present day users. The 8th gen Intel core processors focus on: Performance and Responsiveness, Immersive Entertainment and Convenience.

These new processors introduced by Intel are:

  • Core i7-8650U
  • Core i7-8550U
  • Core i5-8350U
  • Core i5-8250U

Intel’s press kit also shows a core i3 8th gen Intel processor but the company doesn’t really mention much about it. With these new processors Intel’s focus has now shifted from the mainstream PC to the 2-in-1s and other slim, mobile devices which the company expects to be the future. For the more hardware intensive devices such as PCs which need high power, Intel introduced Core i9 earlier this year.

Intel claims that the 8th Gen Intel core processors offer Intel’s fastest 15W processors with up to 40 percent greater productivity than 7th Gen processors and 2X more productivity vs. comparable 5-year-old processors. Intel states that these 8th gen Intel core processors would come out into the markets starting September with over 145 designs to choose from.

Intel’s current lineup of 8th gen processors were announced today. However they are mobile processors meant for lighter and 2-in-1 devices. The desktop variants of these 8th gen Intel processors will be announced later this fall, as per Intel. Stay tuned with us for more details on Intel’s latest launches.
