Facebook TV Coming in June, Reports Indicate

Facebook has forever changed the way we know social media to be like. The company has opened doors that lead to so many new possibilities and has been quite innovative. Facebook, over the years has become a giant in the world of advertising and communications. Yet it refrains from itself being addressed as a media firm. However, Facebook has now been speculated to launch a Facebook TV service next month.

Rumors surrounding this service had been afloat in the markets over the past few months. Since December, the word was out that Facebook was now going to compete against the likes of Amazon Prime, Hulu and Netlix by creating their own original content. This news died down after a while but has suddenly picked up over the past couple of days. Multiple sources have now confirmed with Business Insider that Facebook TV might be out as early as June 2017.

All these months where the hype had been slowed down, Facebook was actually silently working on setting up these shows and starting with the production. The report gives us a fair idea of what to expect form these shows:

They said the social network had been looking for shows in two distinct tiers: a marquee tier for a few longer, big-budget shows that would feel at home on TV, and a lower tier for shorter, less expensive shows of about five to 10 minutes that would refresh every 24 hours.

The new video initiative means Facebook would play a much more hands-on role in controlling the content that appears on its social network with nearly 2 billion members — and it comes as companies like Amazon, YouTube, and Snap are locked in an arms race to secure premium video programming.

While it remains a speculation for now, Facebook TV is soon going to be a reality! Stay tuned with us for more updates on this story.
