Google Pixel ‘Taimen’ Device Spotted in Benchmark Listings

Google is working on their next generation Pixel 2 smartphones. While they introduced the Google Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones last year, Google has bigger plans this year. The company plans to release a third device, which would be larger than the ‘Walleye’ and ‘Muskie’ Pixel smartphones. This is expected to either be a tablet or a large-screened smartphone such as the Nexus 6. Today, the Taimen device has been spotted in benchmark listings.

The Pixel Taimen has appeared in Geekbench listings, and we now know that it would come out into the markets with 4GB of RAM along with the Android O Operating System. This 4GB RAM detail makes us wonder if this would be a tablet. This speculation arises as Google would rather introduce 6GB smartphones, going in line with the trend of the times.

In addition to that, the phone comes out into the markets with an Octa-core Qualcomm processor clocked at 1.90GHz. It is expected that this processor would be Qualcomm’s new processor that will follow the Snapdragon 835. It is expected to be the Snapdragon 845.

The only thing we knew for sure even before this leak came out was the fact that the phone would run the Android O Operating System. Google had released a developer’s preview of this Operating System in April, and ever since then it was certain that the gen-next Pixel smartphones will come with this OS.

The Pixel 2 smartphones are expected to come out by October of this year, around the same time the original Pixel phones were announced. Google is all set to release three pixel devices this year, and it would be quite interesting to see how Taimen turns out to be. At this point of time, our best bet is on the fact that it comes as a tablet. Stay tuned with us for more updates on these next-gen Pixel smartphones.
