Qualcomm has been among the biggest names when it comes to the world of technology. The company has been announcing a number of new processors and technologies over the years. The latest announcement from Qualcomm was made just hours ago where the company announced their latest quick charging technology: Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+. Qualcomm also announced that the first phone to run this charging technology would be the Nubia Z17.
The company had recently announced the Quick Charge 4.0 technology with the Snapdragon 835 chipset. However, before we could see any devices running it, we already have Quick Charge 4+ into the mix now. This gen-next charging technology comes with three improvements over version 4.0 –
- A newly improved ‘dual charge’ feature divides the current across two power management ICs. This ensures that the charge time is reduced by about 15% and that the thermal dissipation too, is lowered.
- Another major improvement that comes out with the Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ is that of an ‘Intelligent thermal balancing’. This feature ensures that the electric current moves through the coolest path automatically. This removes from the picture the problem of overheating and hot spots as well as ensures an optimized power delivery system.
- Safety protocols have been emphasized on as well. Thanks to Quick Charge 4+, improvements have come to pre-existing safety protocols. The case as well as the connector temperature levels are monitored simultaneously. The new Quick Charge version can help against overheating and short-circuit or damage to the Type-C connector.
The Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ is up to 15% faster in comparison to Quick Charge 4, and is 30% more efficient. Accessories like wall adapters, car chargers, portable battery banks, and USB hubs can qualify for Quick Charge 4+. The accessories will also support backward compatibility with Quick Charge 3.0 and Quick Charge 2.0. Stay tuned with us for more updates on the world of technology.
