Xiaomi has been among the biggest names when it comes to the world of smartphone technology. The company has been dominating the markets when it comes to India, China and a few other South Asian nations. Xiaomi’s Redmi 5 smartphone follows the Redmi 4 (which came out in a number of variants and has been very popular in the Indo-Chinese markets). Based on the leaked photographs, the phone appears to sport a plastic body. It is powered by an ARM processor clocked in at 2GHz. The display appears to be 5 inches in size, and it comes with capacitive buttons in the front. A fingerprint scanner is conspicuously missing.

Speculations indicate that this might be a low-end model of the Xiaomi Redmi 5. It is expected that this phone too, would come out in different variants, and this is the cheaper variant of the same. Listings in the past had indicated a metal body, and a fingerprint scanner on the back for the Xiaomi Redmi 5. Leaked listings had indicated a processor clocked in at 1.4GHz.

As of now these are all the details we have about the phone. It might even turn out to be a different phone upon launch. However current speculations do call it the Xiaomi Redmi 5. Xiaomi is also working on launching the upcoming Mi Mix 2 and Mi Note 3 smartphones. The company recently launched their latest Mi Max device, the Mi Max 2 – which also appears to be a great smartphone. This launch came about a month after Xiaomi launched the Mi 6 and Mi 6 ceramic smartphones. Stay tuned with us for more updates on Xiaomi.
