Waterproof BlackBerry KEYone Teased for IFA 2017

BlackBerry is among one of the most popular names when it comes to the world of smartphone technology. The company is one of biggest players in the markets, especially when it comes to security. They were making smartphones before phones were ‘smart’. The BlackBerry KEYone, which was announced at the MWC 2017 event back in February, is again about to headline the biggest tech event of the second half of the year - the IFA 2017 in Berlin, Germany.

BlackBerry released a teaser promo featuring the BlackBerry KEYone and specifying that they will be there at the IFA 2017 event in Berlin. The video shows waves of water behind the text, and later droplets of water appear too. This gives us an idea of what to expect from BlackBerry at the event - possibly a water proof variant of the phone.

While many believe it is unlikely that BlackBerry would again announce a BlackBerry KEYone variant at the event, all hints point towards that. The new version of the phone is likely to come with IP68 certification, which means it would be waterproof. This feature would put the BlackBerry KEYone flagship smartphone at the same level with various other flagship devices of the year. This has now become an essential feature in most phones and BlackBerry too is quickly adding this to their flagship smartphone.

In addition to the waterproofing, the BlackBerry KEYone is also expected to get a new color variant. This too, has been quite a trend with smartphones. The original release is followed by various other smaller launches where new color variants are unveiled. While these two features alone don’t sound much, the addition of waterproofing could indeed provide quite a boost to the BlackBerry KEYone. Stay tuned with us as we cover the events live at the end of this month.
