At a time where 4 cored processors on PC are considered a standard, an 18 cored processor would change the game completely. Leaked information showcases Intel plans to launch 7 variants of the Intel i9 processor, out of which the aforementioned Intel Core i9 7980 XE is the most powerful. The i9 processors would come in the following variants:

  • Intel i9-7800X: 6 Cores, 12 Threads (To launch in June)
  • Intel i9-7820X: 8 Cores, 16 Threads (To launch in June)
  • Intel i9-7900X: 10 Cores, 20 Threads (To launch in June)
  • Intel i9-7920X: 12 Cores, 24 Threads (To launch in August)
  • Intel i9-7940X: 14 Cores, 28 Threads (Launch date undisclosed)
  • Intel i9-7960X: 16 Cores, 32 Threads (Launch date undisclosed)
  • Intel i9-7980XE: 18 Cores, 36 Threads (Launch date undisclosed)

The upcoming Intel i9 processors are all set to attract the ‘power users’.
