UberPASS Launched in India To Compete With Ola Share Pass

Uber and Ola are the biggest names when it comes to cab services in India. Homegrown Ola has been expanding its presence across the nation, while Uber continues to work on the betterment of services in a limited number of cities that they operate in. Uber has now introduced UberPASS service in four cities, which is similar to how the Ola Share Pass works. As of now this service is only available in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.

Uber is yet to announce the pricing for UberPASS service. However, those who would make use of this service will get access to better rated drivers, discounted fares, waiver on cancellation charges among other features. The pricing of this service will vary in different cities, similar to how Ola Share Pass also functions. Uber has said that they will be testing it in these cities, and if it works out well, they’ll implement it in all their cities.

What is really attractive here is that not only would the users pay less for regular UberGO and UberX rides, but also the surge charges would be reduced for them. Surge pricing has been one of the biggest concerns for Uber users, and hopefully UberPASS would bring some relief. Ola needs to step up their game now as their primary competitor has begun innovating.

Announcing this new service, Shailesh Sawlani, General Manager, West, Uber India said, “We are always thinking of new ways to enhance the Uber experience for our riders. UberPASS is one such product designed to offer riders using our service for their daily commute, a seamless and consistent ride experience. We are excited to launch UberPASS as a pilot for riders in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata and if our riders give us a thumbs up, we will take this to riders in other cities as well.”
